Ingeleiv Berstad is a performer and a choreographer based in Oslo, Norway.
In her practice she is dealing both with the theatre space and crossing boarders and genres through other platforms and contexts.
Her artistic practice is multifaceted, playful and transforming according to specific interests within projects and in order to give her own artistic prosesses resistance. She is occupied with dynamics between inner and outer forces on somatic, energetic and thematic level, within the practice itself, the finished works and the work and its surroundings, audience, context. Some of her projects has branched out in other directions, like becoming a publication (in progress) or a seminar (The Future House of Culture 2016).
She wishes to create aesthetic experiences that can be collective or shared to generate intuitive and sensorial experiences ignorer to challenge ideas about how to exist. The bodily experience and research of physically doing ther research and performing had been a red line through a lot of her projects the last seven years.
She has a longterm collaboration with choreographer and performer Kristin Ryg Helgebostad, going through most of the projects the last years. Other artists she has been working close with for a long time includes Eivind Seljeseth, Chrisander Brun, Ida Wigdel and Tormod Carlsen. Some of latest her works include SPOILER (2017), Lulleli For Fruholmen Fyr (2016), SOIL GIRL (2013), PHANTASMAGORIC (2016) and Av Historisk Grunn part I -III. (2011-2016)
Ingeleiv Berstad is a graduate from Oslo National Academy of the Arts. She holds an MA in choreography and a BA in contemporary dance, which includes being a guest student at SNDO in Amsterdam for a while.
Ingeleiv and her collaborators are touring Black Box Theatre Oslo, MDT Stockholm, BIT Bergen, Teaterhuset Avant Garden, Dansefestival Barents, RAS Sandnes, Ravnedans, Teaterfestivalen i Fjaler, Nordwind Festival in Berlin, Rotterdamse Schouwburg, Bora Bora Festival, Flora Theatre Festival in Olomouc and ImPuls Tanz, amongst others.
The artistic director of the Carte Blanche contemporary dance company, choreographer Hooman Sharifi, programmed Ingeleiv and Kristin Helgebostad for the cultural festival in Bergen 2015 where they created the piece LOUDSPEAKERS. They are also commissioned to make a new full-length piece for the company in 2019 together with set-designer and visual artist Signe Becker.
